We wouldn't be able to make Open Streets happen without the help of so many great volunteers! Please fill out the form below with your preferred times and positions, we will try to accommodate your requests. We will contact you with more information closer to the event. There will be a volunteer orientation in late April/Early May.
Information Booth: Be on hand to provide maps, directions, and event information to Open Streets attendees at one of several booths throughout the Open Streets route.
Block Volunteer: Serve as a ring leader for all volunteers who are active on one block of the event route. Monitor volunteers, give them extra support as needed, handle volunteer shift transitions, and clearly communicate with Open Streets organizers throughout the day.
Floating: Help out wherever event staff needs an extra hand. In this role, volunteers should be able to stay on their feet for an extended period and possibly do light to moderate physical activity.
First Aid/Water: Assist caregivers in first aid tents, pour and pass out free water cups to passersby.
Sanitation/Trash Monitor: Keep an eye on trash bins and replace trash bags when they are full.
Game Station: Lead various games and activities. Volunteers in this role should be comfortable being on their feet for an extended period of time, doing light to moderate exercise, and interacting with children.
Volunteer Coordinator/Volunteer Check-In: Maintain a sign-in sheet for all incoming volunteers, direct them to their volunteer area and block leader, provide them with information and assistance whenever needed. Monitor the volunteer checkpoint throughout your shift.
Set-Up: Assist staff in preparing for Open Streets and coordinating with vendors. Volunteers in this role should be able to complete light to moderate exercise, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
Tear-Down: Help to collect and pack up Open Streets equipment and materials, direct and assist vendors, and clean up the event area. Volunteers in this role should be able to complete light to moderate exercise, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
